2. The design brief

The design brief is a high-level description of a project. You make one to determine exactly what you'll be creating and who it’s for.

For this sample project, the primary objective is to create an app with an easy-to-use ordering experience for a food hall based in Los Angeles. The ideal experience for the customer is to be able to easily order food from the vast variety of options they have at the food hall, find a seat, and enjoy their meal.

In the design brief you should include:

  • A clear project description
  • Project background and business context
  • Your main objective – the 'why'
  • Essential features your project must have
  • Design considerations
  • Success metrics
