Q3 2024: Balsamiq product updates

This one’s all about how your wireframes feel—to you, and to the people you share them with.

Here’s what’s new:

New sketch style

Not every wireframe needs to scream “work in progress,” but sometimes you don’t want it looking too polished either.

Sketch is our new wireframe style that lives right in the middle.

It looks hand-drawn but intentional—like a designer quickly mapped out an idea with one of their fancy pens. Clean enough to get buy-in, loose enough to invite feedback that doesn’t focus on the button color for what feels like hours.

Use it when:

  • You want more refinement than Draft, but less structure than Presentation
  • You’re sharing early-stage ideas and don’t want to overpromise

To try it, switch your wireframe style to Sketch in the project menu.

Other improvements

  • Cleaner template organization so it’s easier to find what you need

  • Simplified Symbol editing for your custom, reusable UI controls (fewer clicks, less confusion)

  • Refined in-app alerts

That’s it for Q3 2024

Short and sweet. Just a few changes to help you communicate ideas more clearly, without sending the wrong signal about how “done” something is.

If you’ve got feedback or want to shape what’s next, join our research program—we’d love to hear from you.
